The SDGs in your municipality

Description

Flemish local authorities are regarded worldwide as forerunners in the local translation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Nevertheless, the question 'The sustainable what?' is still often heard, both within the municipal council and among citizens. Raising awareness about the SDGs therefore remains important. In order to really work on the SDGs, it is important that employees, partners and citizens know these objectives, but also know how they can contribute to them. This way you can create support for the necessary policy measures that contribute to the SDGs. In 2018, the VVSG already collected 50 practical examples from home and abroad to make the SDGs known to a broader audience, both within your municipal organization and in your external communication and at events. At the beginning of 2021 we launched a second volume with another 50 concrete practical examples. From SDG chocolates and SDG street art, to SDG radio programs and collaborating with local sustainable heroes: in both portfolios of sensitizing examples you will find a nice collection of campaigns, activities and materials. So be inspired and don't hesitate to put the SDGs in the spotlight in your municipality!
